Stayton Ghost Tour

This past Saturday, October 16, 2021, we participated in the Fourth Annual Stayton Ghost Tour and Historic Walk through the city at the historic Star Cinema in Stayton, Oregon. This ghost tour helps bring in money to support the Brown House in Stayton and the RDS-Revitalize Downtown Stayton.

Although, we were expecting a ghostly tour of the city, we got much more than that. The film was presented through the eyes of citizens that would have lived during that time period. Each character was based off an actual person that lived and thrived in the city of Stayton and all of the good, and sometimes the bad they brought to the area.

It was a great film and I definitely recommend it. This was the Fourth Annual Ghost Tour and Historic Walk, and the the first time we have attended, but we are definitely going to be returning for the next showing.

Five Simple Things (October 15)

Here are five things this week.

1.   This Honeybee.

This poor, little honeybee was on a bag of yard rocks at Home Depot. Skylar went to pick the bag up and the honeybee stung him. Luckily for the both of them, the stinger didn't come out of the honeybee and the sting was mild. We picked her up and placed her on this rose bush near the area. I hope she made it home.

2. This Light.

We are loving the spot light we added to the school bell out front. It makes it look spooky and interesting at night.

3. This Kitty.

Such a great personality she has. Eleven is definitely meant to be in our family.

4. These Cabinets.

Like, what? I would love to have cabinets like this in my own home. Although, I wouldn't have them all filled with liquor, I can't help but think with the glass from the cabinets and the glass from the bottles, it really is pretty.

5. This Flight.

Space exploration is becoming more and more feasible for regular folks. Although, everyone taking fight has been a celebrity, or those able to afford the tickets right now, it won't be long before we are all either taking the flights, or know someone personally that has. Space has always been of interest to me and I love the fact that we are advancing at getting more people up there to see the world in a different light.

Did you catch the moon near Venus this week (10), or Jupiter and Saturn near the moon (14)?

Positive affirmations this week:

Take better control of your health all the way around. If the family you grew up in doesn't make healthy choices, that doesn't mean that you need to continue those unhealthy habits. Changing what you eat, how you take care of yourself, or even seeking mental health counseling doesn't make you weak, or that you don't love you family any less. It simply means that you are doing what's best for you and your body, your mind, and your life. If your family or relatives don't support those changes that are better for you, then don't depend on them for encouragement. Listen to your supporters, not your critics. You can do this!

Have a nice weekend.

Five Simple Things (October 8)

Here are five things this week.

1. This Run.

Didn't feel like doing anything this week as far as a workout, but glad I went on this run. It's been a bit challenging and I get headaches easier since our car wreck, but going slow and getting back into a routine helps with, not only making me feel better, but also my mental health.

2. This Crash.

A lot of the popular social media apps took a crap this week on October 4. It was almost a relief to see a lot of people not being able to access their "addictions." The crash was definitely a reminder to a lot of people to not depend on those sites as much, or at all, really. Social media is killing people's social skills/ques, and respect for each other. Unfollow, unsubscribe, step away, and stop relying on platforms online. It isn't healthy.

3. This Music.

I never take these people for granted. This was in downtown Corvallis and the talent behind these people that play like this is incredible to me. You should never take someone's talent lightly. There is effort put into setting up and playing an instrument, or displaying another talent. Always give them some credit.

4. This Pie.

Our local food co-op always has the best desserts, and sometimes you have to treat yourself. This was peanut butter cheesecake and it was delicious!

5. This Log.

It's located in the Columbia River off Marine Drive in Portland, Oregon. The log is pushed into the ground by the undertow and someone took it upon themselves to swim out and paint it as a crocodile head. Clearly the water fowl aren't fazed by it.

Did you catch the Moon near the Regulus start cluster this week (2), or Cygnus the Swan (6)?

Positive affirmations this week:

If you look up "assuming is..." on the internet a lot of different reasons to NOT assume pop up. Whatever your reasoning for assuming something, the best way to avoid disappointment, or overthinking is not to assume anything. Even assuming the best will sometimes lead to disappointment in the end. Not assuming anything with any situation and allowing the situation to play out as it does is a good way to help with healthy mental health. It takes practice, constant practice, but it can be done.

Have a nice weekend.
