Five Simple Things (March 12)

Hello.

I'll admit, this week we didn't do anything. We figured having a week of just relaxing and nothing was just what we needed. We spent the week literally just doing everyday tasks, but we didn't stress about much at all. I'm coming up on my year after my surgery. My surgery was on March 19. It's weird to think it's already been a year and I am still recovering a bit. A few of my smaller scars are starting to fade, but the larger ones, which are the ones that were concerning, are still very much visible. But, overtime my surgeon said those will fade, as well. I've been using a scar gel that has been working, so I will continue to use it until I am satisfied with the results. This scar gel I am using is Derma-E Scar Gel. I apply it morning and night. It's a good product for newer and older scars. It takes a bit longer for older scar to see any results, but for newer scars, like mine, it's working great. Here are five things this week.

1. This Oil.

I've been using lavender oil on my pillow at night and doing tenting to relax. It's helping and it helps relax my anxiety, too. I love Pranarom oils. They are organic and have stewardships that protect the environment.

2. This Kitty.

Enjoying the sunshine that's finally coming through the windows.

3. This Box.

Love when these boxes come. Yogi Surprise was my first subscription box and this week we got word that they are ending the subscription. I am quite upset, but I think the pandemic has hit a lot of small business pretty hard. We are getting one more box after this and it ends, but for now I am enjoying what I get.

4. These Boxes.

Other subscription boxes we enjoy is the Mully Box, Might Nest, and Kiwi Eco Box. These are three we look forward to getting each month.

5. This Selfie.
Love the way this came out. It's a filter on my Samsung and it turns regular pictures into pictures from 1920. Definitely a filter I will be playing around with in the future.

Positive affirmations this week:

"When you worry you suffer twice." This quote has been my driving force lately and it's helped me get some of my anxiety under control. I worry about things that are out of my control, too. Things like, why people act a certain way, why they say the things they say, and why are some people so mean. Those are the things I am working on. I have since changed those worries to, people don't know any better, they say hateful things to bring others down to how they feel, and people are mean to others because they just don't love themselves. I get to thinking about those people and overall, I feel sorry for them. I don't treat people with disregard because I love who I am. I've done so many great things in my life and for people and certain people can't see that, how sad for them. I hope they find their way navigating through their own issues and struggles. I've started meditating more, Jeff has even joined in. I've also started creating a better routine in the morning that fulfills me. I write down things the night before that I would like to get done the next day and incorporate that into my daily routine. If I don't get it all done, it's okay. I am not striving for perfection, just a sense of accomplishment. I have also started reading more and staying in therapy. It's all been helping, so I don't plan on changing anything anytime soon. If you are stuck in the worry/anxiety/panic rut, I suggest giving some of these things a try. Start with one and move to another, or create your own process. If it's getting to be too overwhelming, give therapy a try. Talking to someone else and getting feedback may help you figure things out. I'm rooting for you!

Have a nice weekend.
